How to Watch World Athletics Championships: Stream Track and Field Live, TV Channel

The morning session of Day 2 at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest features the final day of competition in the women's heptathlon as well as heats and qualifying

The World Athletics Championships opened Saturday in Budapest and the morning session on day two will feature the fifth and sixth events of the women's heptathlon competition, as well as heats in the men's and women's 400 meters, the men's 400-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles and the women's 100 meters. There will also be qualification rounds in the women's discus and the men's high jump. The first medals of the competition were awarded on Saturday in the men's 20-kilometer race walk, men's shot put, women's 10,000 meters and the mixed 1,600-meter relay. Spain's Álvaro Martín won the first gold medal at the event, opening the competition with a victory in the men's race walk, finishing seven seconds ahead of Sweden's Perseus Karlström, who won the bronze last year in Eugene, Oregon.

American Valarie Allman recorded the world's best mark in the women's discus this year, a toss of 70.25 meters in San Diego on April 7. She was the bronze medalist last year behind Feng Bin of China and Sandra Perković of Croatia. American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone posted the top 400-meter time of the year on July 8 at 48.74 seconds, but withdrew from the worlds with a knee injury.

In the men's 400, Steven Gardiner of the Bahamas has the top time in 2023, a 43.74-second mark on July 18. Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim high jumped 2.36 meters on July 16, 0.01 meters better than marks posted by JuVaughn Harrison of the U.S. and Danil Lysenko of Russia. Russia and Belarus are excluded from the championships again this year.

Norway's Karsten Warholm ran a 46.51 in the men's 400-meter hurdles on July 21 while Jamaica's Rasheed Broadbell's 12.94 was the best time in the 110-meter hurdles this year, set on July 9. Another Jamaican, Shericka Jackson, ran the fastest women's 100 meters this year, posting a time of 10.65 seconds on July 7.
